Falkirk In Like Flynn!

Falkirk got their European campaign off to a great start with a 1-0 victory of Vaduz. Ryan Flynn, on loan at his old club from Liverpool, had a shot from the edge of the box deflected into the net five minutes after the restart to put the Bairns on their way to a famous victory.
At times it was about as pretty as John Hughes language but new gaffer Eddie may can wake up today in a good mood. First competitive game in charge and a victory. First game in Europe and a victory. No goals conceded. He could retire and be the most successful manager in history!
Vaduz, under the guidance of German legend Pierre Littbarski, were no mugs, and they could have easily scored three in the first half, putting the tie well beyond Falkirk. But the Bairns held on and after Flynn's opener the home side could have added to the tally with Stevie Gerrard, sorry, Scott Arfield sending a long range rasper just over the bar.
Carl Finnigan, celebrating signing a new contract with the club, almost had another reason to be cheerful when he scored but his effort was ruled offside. It wasn't to be and instead Falkirk will take a single goal lead on the plane with them.
It looks as if the youngsters May had coached when he was in charge of the youth set up are responding in a positive manner to their new first team coach. Flynn was impressive, as was Burnley loan star Alex MacDonald.
So now onto the second leg in Liechtenstein next week. We'll need steady (Eddie!) nerves, we'll need strong finger nails and we'll need more of the same!
C'mon the Bairns!
