Before the start of this game Falkirk head coach and assistant head coach John Hughes and Brian Rice signed a new three and a half year deal which keeps them at the club.
This game only went ahead due to the excellent groundkeeping by the staff at the new stadium at Westfield.
The home side were first to show in the third minute when Russell Latapy struck a low shot which keeper Rudy Pounoussamy had difficulty in gathering with strikers Andy Thomson and Darryl Duffy ready to pounce.
It only took another three minutes for the Bairns to go ahead when they were awarded a free-kick when Duffy was impeded on the edge of the box and Latapy stepped up and slotted home for his eighth of the season.
In the 18th minute influential midfielder John O'Neil had to leave the field with a pulled hamstring and David Nicholls replaced and it was Nicholls some three minutes later who nearly scored with a right-foot shot which was tipped over the crossbar.
Falkirk's second goal came in the 33rd minute when Duffy crossed the ball from the byline, low across the face of goal. Thomson picked up the ball and shot but due to the worsening weather conditions, Pounoussamy could not gather the ball.
Four minutes later Andy Lawrie through in a wicked cross ball which was met by the head of Duffy, but unfortunately it skimmed over the crossbar.
After the half time break the game seemed to deteriorate and went flat with no real clear chances falling to either side, but in the 77th minute Falkirk's Lawrie cut a ball back to Latapy and his shot hit the right-hand post and went out for a corner.
Just before the full-time whistle Duffy could have made it the but Pounoussamy managed to save the chipped shot.
