Raith failed in their efforts to increase the pressure on First Division leaders Dunfermline as they could only manage a goalless draw at Falkirk.
Rovers were just two points off top-spot heading into the clash, but, after the Pars` thumping 5-0 win over Cowdenbeath, they are now further adrift.
After a cagey opening period, the visitors fashioned the first opening but Scott McBride`s excellent 30-yard effort went inches wide.
That spurred the promotion-chasers on, with McBride proving particularly threatening as he saw another effort from distance creep over.
Falkirk came out fighting after the interval, though, and could have taken the lead themselves when Mark Millar`s goal-bound strike was blocked by Mark Campbell.
The game again entered a lull thereafter, with both sides battling for the initiative without creating clear-cut chances.
Gregory Tade briefly threatened to win it for Raith late on after finding space in the box, but saw his effort saved.
