Steven Pressley has urged the Scottish Premier League hierarchy to consider league reconstruction rather than solely focusing on the league split. The Falkirk manager, whose side are bottom of the table and battling to avoid relegation, said the top flight was in need of a shake-up.
"There's a staleness in our league and it's now time for our game to be freshened up," he told BBC Scotland.
Pressley also suggested there were too many professional clubs in Scotland.
The split for the final five matches of the season has been in place since 2001.
However, despite coming in for criticism recently, BBC Scotland learned this week that five out of eight clubs polled are keen to retain the split.
SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster said he would be open to discussions on change but added that the current system can only change if the clubs vote for it.
Falkirk, level on 28 points with St Mirren, travel to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen on Saturday.
