McCoist has lost a number of first-team regulars since the club was consigned to liquidation and voted into the Third Division in the summer, and he is keen to recruit up to half a dozen players before a 12-month transfer embargo comes into effect on September 1. Rangers have made an offer for Templeton and McCoist joked that the price has probably increased following the player's role in Thursday night's Europa League play-off against Liverpool. The 23-year-old's shot was spilled over the line by Jose Reina to hand Hearts a lifeline at Anfield before Liverpool hit back late on to secure their place in the group stages. Speaking after his own side's 3-0 win over Falkirk in the Scottish Communities League Cup, McCoist said: "I thought it was an own-goal watching the goal tonight and the goalkeeper probably should have saved it. "I would rather anybody had scored that goal to be quite frank with you other than David Templeton. "All kidding aside, I watched the last 15 minutes and Hearts were great and it was just really disappointing they lost a goal late on. "I've said for a number of weeks now that we've got to get bodies in and David is one we would be really keen to get, along with a few others. "Tomorrow and maybe tonight have to be busy." Asked if Kilmarnock goalkeeper Cammy Bell is another target, McCoist added: "In an ideal world, I would like to get another keeper in and let young Gall (Scott Gallacher) go and play somewhere. "But that isn't a priority at the moment. "I know Cammy has had an operation on his arm, and that wouldn't put me off, but he's somebody else's player and you have to respect that. I wouldn't talk about that." McCoist expects the club to be busy in the transfer market between now and the window closing. He said: "Managers will go higher but I certainly think we need a handful, if not six. I really do because we are really low on numbers. "I think we have to appreciate where we are on numbers. "There is a mixed bag with how people perceive us at the moment. What we have to appreciate is that we are an SFL3 team and we have to get out of SFL3 - that's the priority. "People have a different perception of us at the moment but we just have to see what the next 24 hours holds." A double from Lee McCulloch and an Andy Little strike ensured a comfortable win at Ibrox over Falkirk. But, despite the scoreline, Bairns boss Steven Pressley had no complaints about his players' efforts. He said: "We lost goals when we had our best moments in the game. "I thought we started the game very well, we hit the post and had a couple of good opportunities. "The one thing I'll say is that this group of players gave me absolutely every ounce tonight. "We maybe lost goals with a little bit of naivety but in terms of their performance for each other and for me as the manager, I couldn't ask for any more. As individuals, they were terrific."
