Falkirk V Airdrie Utd at Falkirk Stadium - Match Preview

Vaulks vaults into Falkirk contention

Falkirk go looking for their first win in five games when they host Airdrie and manager Steven Pressley includes new recruit, former Tranmere defender Will Vaulks, in his plans for the first time.

Jonny Flynn returns to the squad after an ankle injury with strikers Sean Higgins and David Weatherson both passed fit enough to start after being restricted to substitute roles recently.

Technical Director Alex Smith said: "It's time for us to start winning games again. Last week against Partick Thistle our play was a bit too loose and we need to have a more rigid approach.

"Airdrie United gave us a really tough game at our place earlier in the season, but we won 4-1 at their's last month. We will look to repeat that success."

Airdrie have only midfielder Alan Cook missing as the former Dumbarton and Stirling player is still nursing an ankle injury.

The Diamonds have welcomed back David Lilley, Gavin Griffin, Sean Lynch and Jack Boyle to training after injury and the quartet are included in manager Jimmy Boyle's travelling party, although it is unlikely that all four will start.

Boyle said: "It's good that we have more options player-wise, especially going to a tough venue in Falkirk.

"When we played there the last time we were pushed back in the first half, but did enough in the second to grab a draw.

"If we can put in another positive performance, but this time for 90 minutes, we will do very well there."
